A South African court postponed a child rapist sentencing for the 71st time in four years. Andries Sibiya, a preacher, was convicted in 2008 on nine charges for raping a thirteen year old girl between 1996 and 2007. The 55 year old had three children with the girl, and told the court during his trial, that God had ordered him to have children so his family could go to heaven. This is a shocking and extreme case in which the perpetrator is shielded behind religion, and the biased beliefs of a nation that oppresses women. Sibiya should be made to face the consequences of his crime and face the full wrath of the law for his vile and despicable crime.

  1. I think it is ridiculous that they are postponing rapist's sentences in South Africa. It shouldn't matter if Sibiya was "ordered by God" to rape this girl or not, rape is rape and is a criminal offence. The emotional damage that this man has caused this thirteen year old girl can never be repaired no matter what his sentence is. He has scarred her for life and also the lives of the three children that they had. His crimes against this poor little girl should be dealt with as soon as possible and like Tari said, he should face the full wrath of the law for what he has done.

  2. This man needs to be arrested. The court needs to realize that every time he postpones the trial he comes up with another excuse to not be sentenced. I do not think that God would want someone to rape a child to prove himself so he could go to heaven. This man needs to be arrested, rape is rape, and there is absolutely no excuse for it. This child, and now her children, have been put through enough and it needs to end.

  3. This entire article disgusts me to the point where I am angry about it! I do not understand how this is even possible to do in today’s multi-religious world. In NO case is there ever every any circumstances where shielding behind your religion from the negative things done is okay. This is a popular thing to do these days, use your religion to get away with certain things... and giving a bad name and stereotypes to that religion.

  5. This is absolutely insane! The man is just using God as an excuse, christianitity is about loving everyone, not raping them! This man needs to be locked up for good, but who knows when he will have the "time". I hope he gets what he deserves, and that little girl isn't traumatized for life. This is just showing weakness, allowing him to delay it as much as he wants.
